Environmental Challenges of Gold Mining in Sudan
Gold mining in Sudan, especially in areas such as the Blue Nile and the Kordofan regions, has led to significant environmental challenges. The widespread use of mercury in artisanal gold mining poses serious health and environmental risks. Moreover, deforestation and soil erosion are prevalent in mining areas. These issues have prompted local and international organizations to implement environmental management programs and promote safer mining practices to mitigate the impact.
